Additional information:
 
Immigrated from Völkersleier in Bavaria, Germany, with his wife, Esther, arriving at the port of Baltimore on August 12, 1834. On the same vessel were Michael Greenawalt and his wife, Rachel, probably close relatives of theirs. The two families never parted ever since. After a few months in Maryland they moved to Hanover, York Co., Pa., before establishing themselves in Chambersburg in 1847. Originally a bookbinder, Alexander Stine earned his living as a baker and grocer.

The epitaph is badly weathered and partly illegible.
