Son of Alexander and Esther
Stine, who established themselves in Chambersburg in 1847. Isaac
Stine owned a grocery store on S. Main
Street and a wholesale
department on Main and Washington Streets, doing "an extensive
business".
Throughout his life Isaac Stine took care of Chambersburg's Jewish
cemetery, acting on behalf of the Benevolent Society. When he died in
1913, a small trust fund was set up to maintain the cemetery, with his
two daughters as trustees.
