LIST
OF HEADSTONES
Please
note that after decades of
neglect and occassional acts of vandalism, the present-day location of
headstones may no longer indicate the location of the gravesites these
headstones were meant to mark.
All extant stones are numbered on the backside. Stones
numbered 1-1 to 1-38 are found in the "Anne
Marder Memorial
Garden" (1).
This part of the cemetery is an arrangement of stones and fragments
that were found on the burial ground during restauration works but
could not be attributed to known gravesites. Stones numbered 2-1 to
2-25 are found in the front row (2),
stones numbered 3-1 to 3-32 are found in the back row (3). Please refer to the map
for a first orientation.
In the early years gravesites were marked by headstones only. During
the 1850's additional footstones became common. The gravesites of Lydia Kahnweiler and of Fannie
Arnold still show the original arrangement of headstones and
footstones. This list contains headstones only.
